For sale is this stunning country house centre stool. It is an ideal height to sit in front of a sofa and could be used as a coffee table. This useful piece of furniture could also be used at the end of a bed or as additional seating.
The frame is beech with simple and elegant turned mahogany legs that date to the early Victorian period. The lacquered brass castors are stamped “Cope’s Patent” a nineteenth century manufacturer who’s castors are only found on the highest quality furniture by makers such as Gillows.
We have had a new cushion made and the stool has been stripped down to the frame, any loose joints strengthened and then reupholstered using traditional materials and methods. The stool is finished in a hard wearing ticking material and is ready for your choice of top fabric or could be left as is. We have had the cushion re made and stuffed with wool from a local herd of Dorset Horn sheep. The wool is double washed and hand carded locally. This gives a luxurious feel to the cushion and supports local people and farmers.
